ABOUT ABOUT

Expertly written in 1935 by Clifford Odets, Waiting for Lefty exposes a downtrodden group of Laborers fighting back against the backdrop of The Great Depression. Drama of tough times and tougher people desperate for happiness strikes the depths of the American experience.  Amongst rowdy activities at the Union Hall, a group of disgruntled cab drivers gather for their leader in hopes to mount a strike for better conditions. However, Harry Fatt, the corrupt union rep lurks in the shadows with some backup and his own bad intentions. Threatening harm, he sets his sights on destroying any chance for these people to 'get a living wage.' Boiling tensions stemming from poverty, oppression, xenophobia and corporate indiscretion could just destroy it all...should the crowd continue to wait.

Conceived over 80 years ago, this version reaches through the ages to bring the timeless truth, reality and trademark grit of Odets to the stage.
